Those interested in volunteering as an individual must be at least 18 years of age and must undergo our New York State sponsored application process which includes a background check.

Businesses and groups are also welcome to volunteer on individual projects as approved by the Volunteer Department.

There are many opportunities to make a difference; all it takes is interest and a willingness to give:

One-on-One Mentor:  Spend quality one-on-one time with a child in the Residential Treatment Center or adult resident of McSharry's Hope ICF.  Visits can be on-site or off-site and allow each resident to form a trusting, respectful relationship with an adult who is willing to spend time with the child and provide individualized attention and care.

Recreation:  Assist child care staff with the recreation programs for the children in the Residential Treatment Center.  These activities usually take place after school and on the weekends.

Clerical Services:  Aid Little Flower staff in various departments with clerical work including typing, filing, phone work and mailings.

Gardening:  Spruce up the grounds in Wading River by being responsible for a garden- planting, wedding, pruning etc.  A perfect opportunity for small groups to work together (i.e.- Girl Scout troops, class projects etc.)

Special Events:  Finance, plan and organize social activities, picnics and parties for Little Flower residents.
